Lincoln Hall
Bluffton's President Samuel K. Mosiman presided at the laying of the cornerstone for Lincoln Hall. The cornerstone is engraved with the words, "Dedicated to God for Men, 1923."
Lincoln Hall was built in 1923-1924 and was the first men's residence hall on campus. It was built with much community and student labor.
Women lived in Lincoln Hall from the early 1940s (during World War II when there were few men on campus) to 1958 when the first addition to Ropp Hall was opened.
There were absolutely no trees around Lincoln Hall or Science Hall when this photograph was taken, soon after the construction of Lincoln Hall. The smokestack in the distance is part of the college heating plant which stood near College Avenue at Riley Creek.
